Reflecting on my coaching journey, I am reminded of agreements’ pivotal role in creating a foundation for meaningful conversations. Sessions can drift aimlessly without them, leaving both coach and client uncertain of their direction. But when embraced intentionally, agreements provide clarity, focus, and purpose, setting the stage for transformative results.

In my early days as a coach, I was eager to dive into deep conversations with clients. Yet, without clear agreements, sessions sometimes felt scattered. It wasnโt until I experienced a breakthrough with a client that I truly understood the power of this competency.

One client came to me struggling with their leadership transition into a senior management role. During our first session, we co-created a clear agreement: to build their confidence and develop a personalized leadership framework. This agreement became our ๐ต๐๐๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐, guiding every session.
At the start of each conversation, we revisited the agreement and tailored it to their immediate needs. In one session, the focus shifted to handling team conflictsโa pressing issue for them that week. By setting a clear intention for that session, we explored actionable strategies rooted in their values and leadership style.
